Dale Kerns
Dale Kerns is a Past President of the Rotary Club of North East, a Past Youth Services Chairperson for the District and in 2021 – 2022 she served as the District 7630 District Trainer. Ms. Kerns is a faculty member for the Rotary Leadership Institute, a Sustaining Paul Harris Fellow and she and her husband are Benefactors and members of the Bequest Society. It’s no wonder that in December 2022 she was named at the District Governor Nominee Designate (2025 – 26)!
In other civic activities, she is a 20+ year 4 – H volunteer and instructor. Dale has served in all leadership roles of the Cecil County Classroom Teachers Association for 32 years. Additionally, she served for 10 years on the Cecil County Public Library Board of Trustees, and held various roles at Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, MD.
Dale is a retired public School Counselor having worked 33 years in Cecil County, Maryland. In her bonus job she works for Youth Empowerment Source as an instructor in Social Emotional Learning with elementary age students.
Born in Washington, D.C., and growing up in Potomac, MD, she graduated from Towson State University with degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology. Her Master’s Degree from Loyola University of Maryland in School Counseling and she holds a graduate certificate from McDaniel College in Supervision and Administration.
Dale is married to Dr. Tim Kerns, an Epidemiologist, who is the Director of the Maryland Highway Safety Office. They have two adult children. Their daughter, Katy, a Fourth grade teacher in Cecil County is married to James Blessing. Their son, Alex, a Deputy Sheriff in Cecil County and married to his wife, Megan.
