Michael Collins

Executive Director – Institute for Economics & Peace, The Americas

Responsible for expanding IEP’s presence and impact in the Americas and the adoption of IEP’s
Positive Peace Framework as an evidence-based tool for effective peace-centered development.
Before joining IEP, Michael oversaw educational, job creation and economic development programs in emerging nations recovering from natural disasters, working frequently with communities affected by poverty and gang violence. Prior to pursuing a career in the non-profit sector, Michael managed a
construction firm. He studied electro-mechanical engineering and lives in Long Branch, New Jersey with his wife and two children.

“I am proud to be working at the Institute for Economics and Peace, an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank that develops new conceptual frameworks to define and measure peace. IEP works to uncover the relationships between business, peace and prosperity and to promote a better understanding of factors that create peace. We seek to shift the global understanding of peace as an achievable, and tangible measure of human well-being and progress. I’m based in New York but travel frequently throughout the US and Central and South America.”
